FAQ: Cleaning Your Carpet, Hardwood and Tile
After serving thousands of clients over 32 years, we found that there are the following common questions:
FAQ: HOW OFTEN SHOULD I VACUUM FOR REGULAR CARPET MAINTENANCE?
Vacuum once a week per heartbeat in your house. For example, if you have four people that live in your household, plus one dog, vacuum 5x a week. More than that is even better! Carpet is a filter. Everything settles into your carpet (ie: dust and allergens) and gets stuck. So make sure you vacuum your “filter” of carpet regularly.
FAQ:WHY SHOULD I GET MY CARPETS PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED?
It’s important to get your carpets professionally cleaned once a year. After your professional cleaning, we can reapply carpet protection in heavy traffic areas. When your carpet is new, it comes with a level of protection on it. Over time, the new carpet protection wears off and needs to be reapplied. It helps with wear and tear and preventing abrasian. Spots and spills clean up easier with the protection and overall, it will keep your carpet looking healthier and lasting longer. Additionally, carpet protection creates a surface that lifts dirt more easily when you vacuum, similar to teflon coating on a pan.
FAQ: HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY HARDWOOD FLOORS?
Clean your hardwood floors with *no* heavy aklaine cleaners and *no* acids. Use a neutral PH floor cleaner (unlike Mop & Glow or Pine-Sol which have acrylic wax in them) or use straight water. Neutral PH floor cleaners can be purchased at any store- just make sure you are closely reading the label to ensure no waxes or acrylics are added. We see the most damage to hardwoods due to what customers are regularly cleaning their floors with, so this tip is extremely important! Clean your hardwoods when they look dirty and make sure you are sweeping regularly to keep dry soil off the hardwood so it doesn’t get scratched. When people use cleaners with waxes and/or acrylics, at first hardwoods will look beautiful and shine but within a couple weeks, that coating will dull. People commonly see the dull finish, assume it’s from dirt, and then unknown to them, add another coat of acrylic over the floor when they clean it once more. Over time, there is thick wax build up challenging to remove. When we come profesinally clean with our high speed equipment, we are able to take off that layer and it will be easier to maintain the true shine and finish of your floors longterm, using the right products.
FAQ: HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY TILE FLOORS?
We recommend using a neutral PH floor cleaner for your tile and grout but note, at times, tile can be more tricky. In showers, people use soaps which stick as soap scum build up to the tile and shower doors. That’s when professionals are needed. We come in with speciality products to take the soap scum away, including the calcium build up on the glass.
FAQ: ARE THE PRODUCTS YOU USE SAFE FOR MY FAMILY?
Yes, our products are safe for you, your family and our employees! They are non-harmful to the point where if your baby gets on the floor the minute we leave, that is just fine. For some rare severe situations (like a gallon of paint spilled on the floor), we do use stronger cleaners (where we would prefer your baby wasn’t in the area for a couple hours), but 99.9% of what we use is safe and non-harmful.
