Turn on ceiling fans if you are trying to speed up the drying process. You can put your furniture back once the carpet is dry. Make sure there isn’t any transferring of color from furniture to the carpet, by waiting until the carpet is fully dry.
Vacuum Often
Vacuum once a week per heartbeat in your house. For example, if you have four people that live in your household, plus one dog, vacuum 5x a week. Carpet is a filter so everything will settle into your carpet (ie: dust and allergens) and get stuck. Make sure to vacuum your “filter” of carpet regularly.
Treat Stains and Spills with Care
Even though it may seem counterintuitive, make sure to blot any spills instead of rubbing them. This will help to absorb the moisture instead of pushing it down into the carpeting. Use natural cleaner instead of chemicals and clean up as soon as you see a spill occur.
Carpet Protectant
To make sure your carpet keeps it’s freshly cleaned look as long as possible, have your professional carpet cleaner apply a carpet protectant before they leave. You’ll especially want this done in high traffic areas. This will prevent your carpet from absorbing dirt and other spills.
